The Pomeranian is the name of a small dog related to the Chow, the Spitz, and the Siberian Husky. It is a member of the lupine family, whose members are closer relatives of the wolf than other dogs. The Pomeranian weighs between four and seven pounds, and has a long, thich coat, a sharpnosed foxlike face, and small pointed ears. It may be almost any color from black to white, or even orange. There is usually a second, shorter coat under the long outer fur. The tail is also thickly covered with hair, and curls up over the back.

It is believed to have originated in Pomerania, an old Prussian province in northern Germany.

This little Pom comes to us from Dawn in Raleigh, NC. Her name is (of course) Heidi. Dawn says Heidi loves everyone, and revs up her back feet like a race car when she wants attention.
